Kalachakra Tantra
At over 3,500 meters above sea level, perched atop the world, a whisper is heard, a slight and serious breeze and a clear voice whose echo resonates throughout the valley of the Indus and Zanskar in Changtang.
This voice is holy and universal: it is the voice of His Holiness the XIVth Dalai Lama, a religious leader and spiritual guide for not just Tibetans, but the entire human race.
From the 3rd to 16th of July 2014, enthusiasts and pilgrims will gather in the Leh & Ladakh region to listen in silence to the holy words of the revered Dalai Lama.
The Kalachakra teaching in 2014 is a unique and fundamental step in Tantric Buddhism. Only the voice of a wise man can deliver the universal messages that are held in these esoteric Holy Scriptures. Travelling to Ladakh this summer is an opportunity to immerse in the heart of Tibetan Buddhism.
Kalachakra refers both to a Tantric deity and a philosophical and meditative practice taught in this Tantra. This eponymous event called ‘The Kalachakra’ has become fundamental for the uninitiated and remains a rendezvous for peacemakers in the world.
The Kalachakra Tantra was taught by the Buddha in India more than 2,000 years ago. This year, in July 2014, the Kalachakra initiation will be given by His Holiness the XIVth Dalai Lama. Some Buddhist masters assert that Kalachakra is the most advanced form of Vajrayana practice and one of the most complex systems of tantric Buddhism.
The Kalachakra teachings are based on the fundamental concepts of time (kala) and cycles ( chakra ) and by designating the different cycles of the planets and human respiration. Tantra initiates a discovery of the most subtle energies of the body to pave the way to enlightenment.
The Kalachakra deity resides in the center of four mandalas: the Mandalas of the body, speech, mind and wisdom. They are devoted to individual peace, world peace as well as physical and mental balance.
Monastery in Ladakh
This year, His Holiness the XIVth Dalai Lama calls enthusiasts and the faithful alike to gather in Ladakh. Located in the Indian Himalayas, Ladakh is known as Little Tibet and its history is closely linked to Tibetan Buddhist invasions since the tenth century. This high altitude desert in ocher and golden, with green valleys sprinkled across, is the kingdom of monks who ruled over the mountains from the heights of their monasteries.
To live this unique experience and be among the believers, pilgrims and travelers from all walks of life, Shanti Travel invites you to travel to Ladakh and to participate in the Kalachakra initiation of 2014. During this journey of a fortnight, you will discover the beautiful scenery of the Himalayas, enter the sacred precincts of the monasteries of Ladakh and absorb the holy words of the Dalai Lama. Participate in the Kalachakra 2014 and connect with humanity and peace. Contact our experts for more information!
